Original Lufthansa German Airlines promotional poster for East & South Africa from 1961 featuring a striking, deeply saturated colour palette and a bold mid-century expressionist design which showcases a stylized African carved totem set against a brilliant, fiery sunburst.  The poster perfectly embodies the adventurous spirit and avant-garde advertising style of the early 1960s aviation boom when commercial airlines aggressively expanded their global routes in the post-war era.  During this time Lufthansa commissioned prominent artists as evidenced in the highly artistic, non-photographic travel imagery of this German-language variant of "Ost-Süd Afrika".
