Lufthansa West Afrika

Original travel poster commissioned by German flag carrier Lufthansa to promote routes to West Africa during the golden age of jet travel and epitomising mid-century advertising.  Rather than displaying traditional scenery, the poster features a bold, abstract interpretation of a traditional West African ceremonial mask rendered in a vibrant palette of yellow, blue, red, and earthy tones.  The art beautifully contrasts against a rich, sage green background which is framed by the iconic typography of Lufthansa's classic branding on the bottom of the poster.

Artist: Anonymous: reflecting the mid-century corporate practice of focusing entirely on the visual identity of the airline rather than a single individual artist.
