This is rare 1965 original mid-century modern Senegal travel poster designed by artist Tali Papa Ibra (also known as Papa Ibra Tall).  Papa Ibra Tall was a key figure in the modernist [École de Dakar] (Dakar School) art movement and an active participant in the anti-colonial, Négritude cultural movement where he bridged literature with art, rejecting colonial European academic styles in favour of drawing from African folklore, rhythmic linear patterns and spiritual themes.

This striking poster showcases beautiful traditional Senegalese costume and local culture through a bold,

psychedelic mid-century modern aesthetic, featuring exceptionally vibrant colors (ochre, emerald green, and vivid purple), serving as both an important piece of African tourism history and a prime example of late-1960s graphic design.  The image shows a stylised woman wearing a vividly patterned red, whit and purple dress and headwrap, balancing a large basket filled with tropical fruits whilst holding a large fixh and standing near cut watermelon and peppers.
