Pan Am Africa, 1967

This is a stunning original vintage travel poster issued by Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) to promote their premier flight routes across the African continent.  The illustration features a striking and stylised profile of a West African woman in elegant trational attire, wearing a magnificent towering headwrap and holding a slender reed parasol against a clean, crisp background.  The mesmerising and intricate patters of her was-printed textiles are ingeniously mirrored inside the bold ‘AFRICA’ typography at the base to create a sophisticated harmony.
