This is a rare original 1928 British Empire Marketing Board (EMB) lithograph poster designed by the celebrated British war artist and lithographer Gerald Spencer Pryse (1882-1956).  The poster celebrates the opening of the Takoradi Harbour in the Gold Coast (Ghana) in West Africa.  The illustration features a strking and vidi composition of West African chiefs dressed in multi-patterned traditional clost conversing under towering parasols with a British colonial official in white uniform.  The EMB represented colonial propaganda to promote trade and infrastructure investments across the British Empire.
