An original Air France travel poster from 1950, designed by French illustrator Vincent Guerra, and commissioned to promote Air France’s expanded post-WWII commercial routes to "Afrique Occidentale" (French West Africa).
The composition features a powerful, stylized profile silhouette of a West African figure adorned with a prominent gold earring subtly embossed with the iconic Air France winged sea-horse logo (crevette). In the foreground, two figures in striped garments prepare food with a mortar and pestle surrounded by bold blocks of red and yellow colour. A classic mid-century propeller airliner cruises through a bright yellow sky overhead to symbolise the connection between heritage and modern flight.
Printed by the historic Alepee & Cie house in Paris, this magnificent piece is an exceptional example of mid-century graphic design and airline advertising history. It is a must-have for aviation enthusiasts, travel history buffs, or anyone looking for an authentic, high-impact mid-century statement piece.
